- Yes, I can help.....
-
- It's pretty simple, and does use the polar co-ords thing.
-
- First, you need a map that's about twice as wide as it is high. (not really
- neccessary, but it works a bit better)
-
- Now in Photshop, choose filter>distort>polar co-ordinates, and use
- rectangular to polar.
-
- Now use the cloning tool to get rid of the seam and the pinching in the
- center.
-
- now go back to filter>distort>polar co-ordinates and use polar to
- rectangular. You will see the top had been stretched out so it won't pinch
- when wrapped on a sphere.
-
- Now, select image>flip>vertical and choose choose filter>distort>polar
- co-ordinates, rectangular to polar again and get rid of the pinch for the
- bottom of the image. then use polar to rectangular and flip the image again.
-
- Walah.... spherical image map.
-
- Hope that solve's your mapping problems.... at least for now ;)
